Engineering - Helicopter Modification for Specialised Tasks

Helicopter Engineering

The ability of PDG Helicopters to be efficient and effective in it's flying operations relies totally on the engineering backup provided by it's team of engineering personnel. The Company's fleet of helicopters is maintained either at the engineering headquarters base at Inverness or at the Satellite bases of Cumbernauld, Kintore and Wolverhampton. Helicopters on long-term contracts are often routinely engineered at their operating sites, only returning to main bases for in depth work to be undertaken. The Company provides engineering for other  helicopter operators along with a complete service to owners of both piston and turbine engine machines. To enable helicopters to be modified and to undertake specialist tasks, the company maintains a close working relationship with the Civil Aviation Authority, so that modifications can be completed efficiently and in the minimum of time.

Civil Aviation Authority requirements mean that there is a considerable administration requirement associated with the engineering of a large fleet of helicopters. The company undertakes work under EASA 145 certification and employs quality assurance personnel to independently control standards and safety. The latest computer based systems are used to control stock and program scheduled maintenance.

To ensure maximum availability of helicopters, scheduled maintenance is planned around the flying task with work being carried 24 hours a day if required. Un-serviceability in the field is either rectified by on site engineers or by rapid response from an engineering base. This often means the use of a helicopter to fly personnel to the site.

PDG Helicopters quality engineering is available to any helicopter operator, commercial or private, on contract or a one-off basis.
